Shōjo Manga (少女漫画)

Shōjo manga are stories which are written with a younger female teen audience in mind. While shōjo manga series cover the full range of genres, including fantasy, romance, comedy, sci-fi, horror, and more, there are several stylistic features that characterise this category. These include a focus on female protagonists, a storytelling style that prioritises interior monologues and the expression of deeply-held personal feelings, a very free approach to (or even complete lack of) panel borders, and characters are often depicted with very large and detailed eyes.
